The project "The Temporal Forest" combines art and science. It aims to provide new perspectives on the environment and human perception.
0.2 nanoseconds of exposure
The installation is part of The Temporal Forest project as part of the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024 and can be seen, along with other films and exhibits, at the Atelier im Brauhof gallery in Scharnstein, Upper Austria, until 27 October.
The film was shot using an ultra-short pulse laser as a "flash" and an intensified gated camera with ultra-short exposure times. With this special camera, the shutter can be opened and closed on a time scale of 0.2 to 0.3 nanoseconds. And we combine these very fast shutter speeds with a pulsed laser that we have in our laboratory.
