Full-field single molecule FLIM using Pockels Cells!

Our paper 'Electro-optic imaging enables efficient wide-field fluorescence lifetime microscopy' describes a method to do full-field FLIM (fluorescence lifetime imaging) with single molecule sensitivity. Our approach uses a Pockels Cell for fast gating. It allows full field image recording and is therefore much faster than confocal approaches based on scanning and a single pixel detector. In contrast to other gated full field imaging technique (e.g. image intensifiers), Pockels Cells don't add noise to the image, enabling single molecule sensitivity.
